DAILY 08:30-17:00 -- Depart in the morning for the Hilltribe Project at Doi Tung in the
northwestern hills of Chiang Rai province. Continue into Mae Sai for a stop at the
bridge to Burma and shopping. Continue to the Golden Triangle overlooking the
Mekong River to Chiang Saen for a visit to the 14th century ruins. Then return to Chiang
Rai by sunset. The exact timing of the itineray may vary due to local conditions and
lunch is taken at a restaurant en route.
DAILY 08:30-12:00 -- Depart by eight c'clock for a drive up Doi Tung (The Flag
Mountain), where new villages have been created under the auspices of the Princess
Mother's Foundation. Visit the museum (currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)
and surrounding area and then move on to an Akha village. After the visit, return to
Chiang Mai.
